How do I title and register my vehicle in Pennsylvania ?

There are too many variants to cover all possibilities here, so we suggest you contact us for more information.  But in general, to title and register a vehicle in Pennsylvania, you will need the following:

1.  The title to the vehicle, signed by the seller.  If the title requires that it be notarized, the seller's signature must be notarized as well.  Certificates of Origin (MCO's) for new vehicles must be notarized.

2.  If the title is from a state other than Pennsylvania and the vehicle has never been titled in Pennsylvania before, you will also need to provide proof of the VIN.  More detailed information about this can be found at http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-toos.pdf

3.  A valid Pennsylvania photo ID.

4.  Proof of valid Pennsylvania insurance, such as an insurance card, a binder or a declarations page.  If you wish to use a faxed copy, it must be faxed to us directly from the insurance company.  We can not accept a faxed copy that you carry into our office.

If my title is held by a lienholder or is leased, how can I register it?

Normally, we submit a request to the lien holder asking that they send the original title to us.  If you wish for us to handle your registration, please call or visit one of our offices with information on the vehicle and the lien holder.  We will ask the bank to mail us the title.  Once it arrives, we will call you and you can then come in to title and register the vehicle.  You can also fill out the following form and mail, fax or email it to us and we'll forward it to your bank.

How do I title a vehicle branded as salvaged or reconstructed?

In order to title any vehicle that has been branded as salvage or reconstructed, the vehicle must first pass an inspection by an Enhanced Vehicle Safety Inspection Station.  The stations listed are the only ones authorized to perform these services.  They will have the necessary forms to complete.  You will also need to furnish the mechanic with four photographs of the vehicle; front, back and both sides (make sure all windows are up and that the photograph is clear).  The mechanic will sign and date these pictures.

Once the mechanic completes the MV426B and signs the pictures, you can bring the documents into us and we can either issue a plate and registration, or apply for it from PennDOT.

Can I renew my registration with your office?

We can renew registrations for most vehicles.  Simply bring in the completed renewal form you received from PennDOT.  If you don't have that form, you can complete an MV-140 here or in our office.  For us to complete it, you need to show us your valid drivers license and a valid PA insurance card.

What is an online messenger ?

Online messengers are businesses with an online, dedicated link to PennDOT.  We are not part of PennDOT, but are approved by the bureau to perform many services.  This enables us to instantly perform many services that in the past would have taken weeks or even months.  State and service fees apply.  Some of the transactions we can process online are:

We can also process duplicate titles and transfers online, but currently titles are printed in Harrisburg and are required to be mailed to the customer.  Most people receive their title in 4-10 business days

Can I renew my drivers license with your office?

In most cases we can renew your license over the counter.  Bring in the renewal form you received from PennDOT.  If you don't have the form, you can fill out the DL-143 and bring it with your current license to us.  We will issue a camera card which will serve as a temporary license for 60 days.  During this time frame, you must go to a licensing center to have your picture retaken and your new photo license issued.

If you hold a CDL license or if your license has been expired for more than 1 year, you must renew it at a licensing center.
